Garrett is a third generation attorney, originally from Cameron, Missouri. After graduating from Cameron High School, he received his B.S. in Business Administration from William Jewell College in 1998. Garrett is a graduate of the University of Missouri . Kansas City School of Law (J.D. 2001 and LL.M. Taxation 2005) and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 2001.

Garrett joined Kevan D. Acord, P.A. in 2005, and primarily focuses on providing advisory services to owner-led businesses whose goals include wealth preservation and migration. A great deal of his work involves counseling those clients on transition & succession planning, estate freezing techniques and gifting strategies. In addition to his representation of closely-held and family owned businesses, Garrett assists clients with diverse needs in preparing all levels of estate planning.

Garrett's transactional practice has led him to deliver exceptional and timely service on a range of legal and tax matters.

He has assisted closely-held business throughout the business life-cycle, including business planning, choice of entity analysis, entity formation, financing, mergers & acquisitions, and real estate matters. His efforts further consist of providing tax planning and consulting, as well as tax preparation of corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts & estate and gift tax returns.
